4th of July Celebrations in West Texas

WEST TEXAS - There is plenty of fun to be had this weekend in West Texas as local cities celebrate our independence.

July 3rd:

Big Spring: Howard County residents will celebrate with the 12th annual Pops in the Park at the Comanche Trail Park Ampitheater. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Fireworks will be at dark.

Fort Stockton: Free dance at James Rooney Park at 8:00 p.m.

July 4th:

Midland: The City of Midland is teaming up with the West Texas Sockers. The Sockers play at 7:30 p.m. at Grande Stadium. Fireworks will be around 9:45 p.m.

Odessa: Firecracker Fandango will start at 6:00 p.m. at Fourth Street and Lee in downtown Odessa. Fireworks will be at 10:00 p.m.

Andrews: Fourth of July Celebration will be at the Lakeside Park on Saturday, July 4, 2009. Morning activities will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will resume at 7:00 p.m. with a street dance. Many of the vendors will be returning for the evening.

Fort Stockton: James Ronney Park opens at 10:00 a.m. with vendors and a ceremony to honor vets. A free dance will be held at 8:00 p.m. with fireworks around 9:45 p.m.

Alpine: A parade down 5th Street with start at 3:45 p.m. Vendors, music and games will be at Kokernot Park. Fireworks will be at dark.

Big Spring: Funtastic Fourth Festival in downtown Big Spring. 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Heart of the City Park. Lots of kids activities with water slides, vendors, horseback and train rides and more.
