PECOS - Pecos City leaders are worried about their water.

They fear certain sludge being stored in Andrews will seep in to the aquifer that supplies their water.

The Pecos Public Works Director isn't saying much, but he did tell NewsWest 9, the city's hired a hydrologist to look into that possibility.

The big concern is about sludge from the Hudson River in New York being taken to Waste Control Specialists in Andrews County.

They're afraid it's going to leak into their water supply.

Newswest 9 should have more details from the hydrologists' study, sometime next week.

Waste Control Specialists has said repeatedly that their storage facility is completely safe and poses no threat to area ground-water supplies.

WCS also says their facility brings much needed jobs and economic growth to West Texas.
