A Lubbock woman has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges.

Federal prosecutors say 28-year-old Marie Chavez pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana.

Chavez, a member of the ''Latin Kings'' gang, was one of 17 co-defendants named that allegedly brought the drugs from Mexico to south Texas.

She is the tenth person to plead guilty in this case.

Chavez's trial was supposed to begin on Tuesday.

If convicted, she could face up to life in prison.
