Federal charges have been dropped against a Martin County man.

The FBI says the case against 59 year-old Neil McMorries has been dismissed.

McMorries shot a family member as he passed him on FM 1212 near Tarzan, which started a standoff with police.

Then after being arrested by Martin County Deputies, guns were found in McMorries home.

He was convicted of a family violence charge back in the 90's which prohibits him from having weapons.

The FBI says McMorries completed a period of deferred adjudication and had the charge removed.

The Martin County charges are still pending.
