It's finally here, the weeks of counting down to the digital switch has come to an end.

Just after Midnight on Friday Morning, NewsWest 9's old signal will be going off the air, and our full power digital signal will hit the airwaves.

"About 12:01 tonight or Friday morning we are going to turn the analog transmitter off and turn digital one on," NewsWest 9 Engineer, Chuck Kimbriel, said.

And at 12:01a.m. the days of rabbit ears are over.

If you already have your converter box hooked up you will need to reprogram after the switch since different stations will be making the switch at different times.

"If you don't rescan, it won't show any channels, so the most important thing is to rescan," Kimbriel said.

The manager at Radio Shack says rescanning should be simple.

"Unplug the box, plug it back in, hold down your power button from your remote and it will bring up the wizard screen and you will have to re-program it again," Radio Shack Manager, JD Wood, said.

However, after you re-scan and you are still not getting a signal an antenna might be the answer.

"You may have to think about an outside antenna, if you don't have one, and if you do have one, make sure its pointed to Notrees. It will make a difference," Kimbriel said.
