MIDLAND - A candidate for the U.S. Senate seat took a swing through West Texas on Monday.

Houston Mayor Bill White's first stop was at the Petroleum Club.

White's focus was energy.

He's worked in the oil industry and says focusing on renewables like wind and solar does not mean being anti-oil and gas.

White says Texas leads the way in green energy.

White also says switching to green can save some green.

In Houston, White led a push to switch to hybrid cars for some city employees and saved taxpayer money.
