Parents Turn to Swim Parks for Cheap Fun

MIDLAND - Finding ways to keep your kids entertained just got a little easier.

"For about 3 hours just let them play and the time flies fast," Parent Joanna Aguilar, said.

Aguilar and her niece Adyson aren't the only ones enjoying their day at the pool.

Many parents and their children come to the Doug Russell Pool in Midland for just a buck.

"It's nice not having to go out of town and waste money on gas to go to the same kind of thing," Aguilar said.

Parents say they like going to swim parks, because it's a cheap way to keep the kids happy, plus they can keep an eye on their kids.

"At least you know, we can see what they're doing, cause you never know what can happen," Aguilar said.

"Parents want to have fun with their kids. It's cheap and easy. It's in a safe environment so you don't have to worry about the kids running off and not knowing where they are," lifeguard Britnni Molinar, said.

However, lifeguards worry some parents and children may get too distracted playing in the pool, and forget to stay hydrated.

"Don't constantly stay out hour after hour. Stay in the shade. Stay hydrated, take a break. SPF 45 is recommended, and apply it every hour," Molinar said.

Since money's a concern for nearly everyone, parents say they love the idea of paying one dollar for hours of fun.

"Now that school's out, it's hot and they're going to want to come out here, and it's a cheap way to entertain," Aguilar said.
