18 weeks of the Regional Law Enforcement Academy was a long time ago for now licensed peace officer Reico Patrick.

Patrick is one of ten recruits that began the academy, but only seven graduated.

Three will go to Midland Police Department, three to the Big Spring Police Department and one will join the ranks of the Midland Fire Department.

In the past weeks the recruits were pushed to the limit and trained in fire arms, driving and they even faced pepper spray head on.

While Friday was a day of celebration, Monday is a different story.

"18 weeks of in the field training is next," Greg McCright police recruiter said.
