AUSTIN - Two water bills in the Texas Legislature created by Representative Tom Craddick and Senator Kel Seliger appear to be dead in committee.

The bills would establish the West Texas Water Supply District and would help Oilman Clayton Williams pipe water from his land just outside of Fort Stockton to Midland.

Fort Stockton city leaders oppose the bills.

The bill could still make it to the floor of the House before the June 1st deadline.

Mayor Ruben Falcon says a lobbyist for the city will give them an update on the status of the bills at Tuesday's City Council meeting.
