Lea County Woman Convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter

HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - Jurors have convicted a woman of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a Lea County man a year ago.

Evelyn Warden had faced a second-degree murder charge in the April 2008 slaying of 44-year-old Julius Morro south of Hobbs.

The jury reached its verdict Wednesday afternoon after deliberating 9½ hours. Sentencing is tentatively set for June 22.

Warden was arrested after Lea County sheriff's deputies and Hobbs police officers found Morro dead of a gunshot wound in a car in Nadine.
