Midland Police Arrest Suspect Accused of Burglarizing Multiple Churches

MIDLAND - Midland Police have made an arrest in connection with a string of church burglaries throughout the City of Midland.

34-year-old George Navarrette was arrested on Monday and charged with multiple counts of burglary.

Navarette is believed to be responsible for 15 church burglaries that occurred between April 15th, 2009 through May 7th, 2009.

The churches Navarrette is accused of burglarizing include: Fellowship Community Church, Christ Church of Midland, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Northwestern Baptist Church, Abundant Life Worship Center, St. Luke's United Methodist, Wayside Church of God in Christ, Second Baptist Church, Trinity Presbyterian Church, and Travis Baptist Church.

The lengthy investigation resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for Navarrette.  Police arrested Navarrette and recovered some stolen items including a laptop computer, I-POD's, and a projector.

Navarrette is also believed to have burglarized the City of Midland Parks Building.

The investigation into this case continues.
