RCDC Employee Pleads Guilty to Providing Contraband to Prisoners

PECOS - An employee at the Reeves County Detention Center in Pecos has pleaded guilty to providing contraband to prisoners.

Moises B. Martinez Jr. admitted that in June and July of last year he had money wired to him at least five times in exchange for smuggling tobacco and other items to inmates at RCDC. The amounts ranged from $500 to $900 and came from family members of inmates.

Martinez also admitted to smuggling 50 to 60 packages of tobacco into RCDC by simply placing them in his jacket and walking into work.

Martinez worked at RCDC as a case manager. Sentencing will come at a later date.
