MIDLAND - Emergency crews have reopened the eastbound lanes of the Loop 250 access road after a small plane crashed into a fence at the Midland Airpark.
It happened about 1:45 Thursday afternoon. NewsWest9 has learned the pilot was attempting to take off when his plane was hit by a gust of wind causing him to lose control.
The pilot, who had just received his license, was not injured. Hazmat crews responded to the scene after a report that fuel was leaking from the plane.
The FAA will be in Midland on Friday to investigate the crash.
