U.T.P.B. Testing New Campus Alert System

ODESSA - If you heard a loud siren going off around U.T.P.B. on Wednesday afternoon, there's no reason to panic.

It was just a test of their new campus alert system.

The system was installed to notify students and staff about emergency situations.

The alarm sounds off from two sets of speakers on the east and west side of the mesa building.

During an actual emergency, after the siren is heard, a voice message will alert everyone on campus on what they need to do.

It can be heard up to a mile and a half away.
