First Phase of Big Spring Sports Complex Opens

BIG SPRING - Big Spring athletes are pulling out the bats and gloves and getting warmed up.

Saturday morning the city opened the new sports complex. It's a $5 million city-wide investment and officials are wasting no time in breaking it in.

Saturday morning the city had the ribbon cutting on the softball and baseball fields. 13 games were then held on the fields.

By June the city will add six soccer fields and three more baseball fields. Contractors will finish growing the grass during the rest of the summer months and they will be ready for use by 2010.
