ODESSA - Four students who were arrested Thursday for bringing a gun to school have been suspended.
Those kids, three of whom are sixth graders, are at the Ector County Youth Detention Center. They will eventually return to classes at the Alternative Education Center while authorities continue to investigate.
The students were taken into custody Thursday afternoon at Blanton Elementary after a report to police that a student had brought a gun to the campus.
ECISD Police put Blanton under a lockdown around 3:00 p.m. as they investigated and went room to room looking for the weapon. NewsWest9 cameras were rolling as the students were taken out of the school in handcuffs just before 4:00 p.m.
Nervous parents flooded the campus hoping to gain more information and to find out exactly what had happened. The lockdown was lifted soon after the students were arrested.
No one was hurt in the incident, although two parents did suffer some minor injuries while waiting for their kids to released.
Those students now face felony charges for bringing the gun to school and will likely be expelled from school.
