ODESSA - If all goes as planned, the Native American community in Odessa could get what they're asking for and that's the renaming of Loop 338.
The Native American community called Jelso Te Gama is sending out a proposal to TXDOT about changing the name of Loop 338 to Chief Geronimo, a spiritual leader of the past for some native americans.
Teresa Waters, the Chief of Jelso Te Gama, says they chose Loop 338 to be renamed because to them, it has a special meaning.
"The Loop circles Odessa all the way around. It's like a magical or spiritual circle, and has a lot positive energy." Waters said.
There will be a ceremonial gathering of Native Americans on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00p.m. at the U.T.P.B. Softball field.
The event is open to anyone in favor of the renaming Loop 338.
