NEW MEXICO - New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson signed a bill into law outlawing gas chambers at animal control shelter's across the state.

The switch will mean cities like Jal, Lovington, Clovis, and Tucumcari will need to stop using the gas chambers to euthenize dogs.

In Lovington, staff members say they're already training more officers but will need more to make the switch to letal injection.

In Jal, city works say they stopped using the city's chambers last month.
