ANDREWS - NewsWest 9 told you several weeks ago about the pile-up of junk cars in Andrews.
It was so bad; the city hired a code enforcement officer to handle hundreds of violations.
Officials say the re-instatement of the city junk-car ordinance has been a huge success.
The new officer went door-to-door, educating neighbors about the dangers of letting vehicles fall behind on repairs and it worked.
Now, most of those old cars are fixed up and going through proper state registration.
Some people even donated theirs to the fire department providing rescue training equipment for firefighters.
