Brush Fire Sparks Up in Midland County, Resident Ticketed

MIDLAND COUNTY - A Midland County man faces a hefty fine after a fire gets out of control.

Fire crews were called out to battle the flames off FM 1213 and East County Road 160.

Investigators tell NewsWest 9, a man was burning hay and trash behind his house when the flames got away from him.

The Texas Forest Service, Greenwood, Midland, and the Road and Bridge Department were called out, and managed to get the fire under control in a few hours.

The man received two tickets, one for violating the burn ban, and the other for reckless damage.

Both carry up to a $500 dollar fine each, plus court costs.
