A Lamesa man already facing child abuse charges in Dawson County is now accused of child abuse in Lubbock.

22-year-old Michael Schneider was arrested by Lubbock police after his girlfriend's six month old son boy was taken to the hospital with what hospital employees and police say are not injuries consistent with an accident.

That incident allegedly took place on March 25th.

Lubbock police tell NewsWest 9, Schneider was babysitting at the home he shared with his live-in girlfriend who was at work the day before.

No details have been released on the specifics of the boy's injuries, but NewsWest 9 was told they were not life threatening.

However the injuries were bad enough that he had to be placed in intensive care.

As NewsWest 9 reported, Schneider is already awaiting trial on child abuse charges from a 2006 case involving his then girlfriend, Kelly Searles.

Investigators were called in when the couple took Searles' unconscious two-and-a-half-year old son to the hospital in Lamesa.

That boy was airlifted to Lubbock and was apparently beaten so badly, he's suffering from brain damage, broken bones, and other injuries.

Both Searles and Schneider were arrested and charged with felony injury to a child.

Searles made a plea deal and is currently serving a 15 year sentence in state prison.

Schneider has not had his day in court yet.

For now, he remains in the Lubbock county jail on a $250,000 dollar bond.

We'll keep following both cases and bring you any further developments.
