Flooded West Texas Road Finally Reopens

PRESIDIO COUNTY - A highway that was inundated by flood waters last September has finally reopened to the public.

The Texas Department of Transportation says FM 170 is now open in southern Presidio and Brewster Counties. FM 170 has remained closed for months even after large amounts of debris were removed from the road.

TXDOT says numerous safety issues with the road were discovered after the flood. Crews have been working six days a week since December to get the road ready for travel.

Although reconstruction is completed, there are a few minor aesthetic issues to be worked on.
