MIDLAND - Midland area voters will go to the polls in about five weeks to determine the fate of a major hospital bond for Midland Memorial.
On Monday night, the Citizens for the Bond kicked off a campaign to answer questions and update citizens on the 175 million dollar expansion proposal.
Supporters say they've just about reached their 60 million dollar goal in private donations and the rest is up to voters.
The money would fund everything from a new seven floor patient tower to an expanded emergency department and much more.
Officials say the current facility is becoming outdated and the public must decide what type of facility they want to serve them.
The tax for a homeowner living in a $100,000 home would be about 65 dollars more a year.
Officials say the time is right even in this economic downturn, because interest rates for financing are extremely low right now.
