Man Found Guilty of Causing Odessa Boy's Death

The following is from KSBY-TV in Santa Maria, California:

A Santa Maria man is found guilty of causing the death of his girlfriend's 5-year-old son.

24-year-old Juan Nunez was found guilty on both counts of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment with an enhancement for great bodily harm and death.

5-year-old Jesse Alvarez died when Nunez covered the boy's face with sand at a Fourth of July party at the Oceano Dunes last year.

Nunez will be sentenced on April 29.  He remains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Alvarez is originally from Odessa. He was buried here in West Texas.
