BIG SPRING - The jackhammers and dump trucks have rolled into Big Spring.

NewsWest 9 told you last month about the city's plan for road repairs, and this week, crews began work on the downtown streets.

Price Construction will repair the four main thoroughfares including Main Street and Scurry.

The Mayor tells NewsWest 9, the company is a local contractor, so all the money will be kept in town, and will even create a few new jobs.

City Manager Todd Darden says the project will cost about 6.5 million dollars.

They're widening sidewalks, repairing medians, adding new lights, and landscaping.

So far, city leaders say it's going faster than they expected.
Price Construction plans to be finished within a year.
