PECOS - Voters in Pecos will weight-in on fronting the bill to keep a city landmark open.
The Pecos City Council moved to put the city zoo on the ballot for the upcoming may election.
Federal investigators in the last month have said the zoo needs upgrades.
Just to make sure they keep their permit, city officials approved $60,000 to go toward building a newer higher fence.
Officials now say, it's up to residents to vote on whether they really want to invest in keeping the facility around.
Still no word on how city officials will raise the money whether by taxes, grants, or charging an entry fee.
They say more public meetings will be scheduled in the near future.
