Waste Control Specialist Bond on the May Ballot in Andrews

Staff Report

ANDREWS - Andrews County voters will get to decide if a disposal facility that takes low level radioactive waste will get to expand.

The Andrews County Commissioners court voted 4 to 1 on Friday to call for a May bond election.

Voters will be asked to approve a 75 million dollar bond that will allow Waste Control Specialists to expand its facility in Andrews County.

It will be the largest bond in Andrews' County history and will give Waste Control Specialists the money they need to develop landfills that accept radioactive waste.

Under the plan, the County would be repaid by Waste Control Specialists and the expansion would create 100 jobs.
