ODESSA - It's a story that's gaining national attention.
A 22-year-old, posing as a teen basketball star at Permian High School.
His web of lies exposed by Odessa police and ICE agents.
Guerdwich Montimere is now a free man, after posting a $500.00 bond.
He was arrested earlier this week on one count of failure to identify himself to a peace officer, and one count of being a fugitive from justice.
Everything started in April, when school officials at Permian High School got a tip that the student they knew as Jerry Joseph wasn't who he said he was.
Montimere was pretending to be a 16-year-old Haitian orphan, when he was actually a 22-year-old naturalized U.S. Citizen and 2007 graduate from Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
When the truth came out, Montimere admitted to the fraud and was arrested.
According to officials with the University Interscholastic League in Austin, the investigation is still on going, but the minimum penalty Permian High School could face is forfeiting all games won that Montimeere participated in.
Other possible punishments include reprimanding the school and the coach and possible suspension from future UIL activities.
News of the deception is spreading like wild fire.
Stations and networks from all across the country have been calling the NewsWest Nine newsroom for information and video footage.
