Los Alamos Firm Looks at Lea County For Nuclear Plant

Staff Report
The Associated Press

EUNICE, NEW MEXICO - Another nuclear energy company is eyeing Lea County as a possible home for a future nuclear reactor used for commercial energy production.

Hyperion Power Generation based in Los Alamos put Eunice on the short list of sites for the plant because of it's uranium enrichment facility run by Louisiana Energy Services.

Nuclear Energy Companies started looking at Eunice after the L.E.S. Plant started construction on it's national enrichment facility.

The other possible site is in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
