PERMIAN BASIN - A new scam is making is hitting the Midland-Odessa area.
According to the Better Business Bureau, they received over two dozen calls in a two hour period on Wednesday morning.
Here's how it works.
An unknown man calls your home and says your checking information has made it's way to the Internet.
He says he's with a verification league or society. And tells you to get your check book, tell him your account number and he'll help you verify your information.
The BBB says this is one of the most direct approaches to get someone's personal information that they've seen.
The BBB recommends, if you feel you've already been hit, call your bank or credit union and have them flag your account for unusual activity.
You can also call the BBB if you've received this or a similar type of call.
