
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Firefighters expect a wildfire in the Gila National Forest to grow, as dry, windy weather moves into the area. Officials say close to 600 firefighters Monday are battling the Silver Fire, which is now 5% contained. The fire covers about 35 square miles. Crews are working to protect the nearby historic mining town of Kingston.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A former campaign manager for New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is pleading not guilty to federal charges of hacking into her campaign's email system. Prosecutors say Jamie Estrada used password and username information to change the computer account for the governor's 2010 campaign organization after Martinez took office as governor.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - More than 30,000 state and local government workers face a 15% increase for their health care insurance starting next month. Risk Management Director A. J. Forte says another round of premium increases is needed as New Mexico's self-insurance program digs out of a financial hole.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Santa Fe city councilors are set to consider a proposal that would impose strict regulations on the number of bullets in gun magazines allowed in the city limits. The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that councilors are scheduled next week to vote on a plan that would prohibit possession and sales of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition and other gun accessories.
