5 Killed in Head-on Collision in Andrews County

ANDREWS COUNTY - Five people, including three children, are dead after a tragic head-on crash in Andrews County.

It happened around 1:30 Saturday afternoon on Highway 1788, north of Highway 158.

DPS troopers say a Volkswagen driven by Deborah Beck of Andrews drifted into the on-coming lane and collided head-on with a truck. Both vehicles then caught fire.

Beck was killed along with her three grandchildren who were with her. Troopers identified the children as 8-year-old Tiffany Klein, 3-year-old Jeremyah Rodriguez and 2-year-old Sebastian Savage.

56-year-old Edwin Timmer, who was driving the truck, was also killed in the crash.

Troopers say they do not know why Beck drifted into the other lane. Troopers say Beck was following her son and daughter-in-law who were on the scene just after the crash.

A crisis intervention team was called in to assist the family.
