BIG SPRING - The lawsuit is settled in Big Spring.
On Monday night, NewsWest 9 learned that a judge took the side of a group of concerned citizens over a violation of the Open Meetings Act.
He agreed the city did not give enough notice for a special meeting about a petition, which is why the citizens group sued in the first place.
Under the deal, the group will drop their lawsuit against the city.
The City of Big Spring will make a donation of $5,000 to the Texas Freedom of Information Foundation and will also pay the group's legal fees.
During a January meeting, the city voted down a petition by the group for a tax rollback election.
The group asked for that after the city voted to spend money on a new pool.
