Rare Two-Headed Calf Born in Martin County

MARTIN COUNTY - It's not something you see every day, in fact, it only happens every one in 400 million times.

A two-headed calf was born several weeks ago on a Martin County ranch.

Local animal experts tell NewsWest 9, a well-developed two-headed calf only happens every one in 400 million times.

The calf didn't live very long and landed in the Martin County Museum at the beginning of the month.

The Museum's Director said, it's certainly drawing a crowd.

"We've had a lot of local ranchers coming in who say they've never had anything like that, they've only seen them in museums. it's really neat that it's from Martin County and that we are able to have it," Shelly Daly with the Martin County Museum, said.

Here's another interesting fact, the two-headed calf was born on Martin County Sheriff John Woodward's ranch.

He loaned it to the museum, who says they're hoping the unique attraction will bring in folks from across the Basin.
