BLANCO, N.M. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 28-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting his live-in girlfriend in Blanco and then fleeing to Albuquerque.
A San Juan County sheriff's spokesman said Wednesday that Manuel Gutierrez III is in critical condition at an Albuquerque hospital. He was found Monday in Albuquerque with a gunshot wound to the head.
The spokesman says Gutierrez was identified through fingerprints.
Gutierrez is accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Kristin Chavez at the couple's Blanco home Sunday. He is wanted on an arrest warrant on an open count of murder.
