BIG SPRING - The Big Spring Salvation Army is bringing some big changes to the way they are collecting donations this holiday season, they are going high tech.
People who don't use cash won't be able to use that as an excuse anymore. The Salvation Army is now the proud owners of three credit card swipe machines. They will accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discovery and bank cards. They work just like the machines at the grocery store so you can do debit or credit and you'll even get a receipt.
They will also continue to have their kettles for people who still carry cash. The new machines will be out starting this coming Monday at Wal-Mart and Bealls. Other locations will have regular kettles for cash.
They plan to continue with this program and depending on the response they will decide whether they need to add more card swipes or get rid of them for next year.
