The search for a missing Denver City toddler has ended in tragedy.
Three year old Mitchell Romero was reported missing last month after his mother was murdered.
NewsWest 9 has learned, Mitchell died in a rollover crash in Mexico.
Mexican and border authorities say Mitchell died in a crash between Chihuahua and Ojinaga on Wednesday.
According a Mexican newspaper, he was being returned to his father, Mario Romero, by his aunt and uncle when the crash happened.
An amber alert had been issued for Mitchell back on October 16th, because authorities believed he was with his father on their way to Mexico.
Mario Romero is accused of killing his wife, Veronica, the day before.
That amber alert was cancelled a few days later and Mitchell was listed as a missing person.
Mario Romero remains on the run.
