ALPINE - Help is on the way for agriculture researchers in West Texas.

On Wednesday, Representative Ciro Rodriguez announced more than 6 million dollars will go toward several programs.

More than one million dollars is being sent to Sul Ross in Alpine for a sustainable agriculture water conservation project.

Rodriguez says water can be scarce, which is why the funding will help create a basin-wide management plan for the Rio Grande region.

In addition, more than five million dollars will go to several projects through Texas A&M Agrilife.
