The National Nuclear Security Administration says Los Alamos and Sandia laboratories and six other projects nationwide were presented with EStar awards from among 150 projects nominated nationwide.
Los Alamos lab developed an annual environmental action plan to correct local environmental issues. Lab employees conserved energy and fuel and reduced the amount of materials the lab was disposing.
Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque instituted a reuse and recycling program that significantly reduced its solid waste and the amount of hazardous and radioactive materials generated.
