MARFA, TX (KWES) - Marfa is set to soon be home to a new music festival.

The Austin-based company behind Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza is aiming to bring the festival to west Texas in May 2020.

Hoping about 5,000 festival-goers show up, the event would be more than twice the size of Marfa’s population.

City of Marfa Mayor Ann Marie Nafziger said there is much planning to be done and she will continue to meet with the company as they move forward with the project.

The festival would be held in ranch land outside city limits, heading toward the neighboring town of Fort Davis.

Marfa already hosts festivals like the Trans-Pecos Festival of Music and Love at El Cosmico.
