ALPINE, TX (KWES) - At approximately 3 p.m. Monday Alpine Firefighters responded to a brushfire near the Quarter Circle 7 Hotel on West Highway 90.
According to officials, the fire was located in a lot just east of the hotel where the fire was extinguished, however railroad ties and grass were still smoldering.
Officials also say a cigarette was most likely the cause.
Firefighters applied foam to prevent any rekindling of the fire.
