MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - A 54-year-old man from Ranger, Texas, was sentenced Friday morning to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to a scheme with plans to kill three people.Barry Ray Eddleman has three charges of Solicitation of Capital Murder.

The sentence was the result of a plea agreement reached between Eddleman, his attorney, and the Midland County District Attorney’s Office.

An investigation by the DA and Texas Department of Public Safety led to the arrest after Eddleman gave undercover officers a $4,000 down payment to kill two people who he had previously tried to kill, but the hitman hired never carried out the plans.

According to the release, Eddleman also wanted the hitman killed for failing to carry out the murders.

According to a press release, Eddleman will have to serve at least half of his 25-year sentence before he can be considered for parole.
