Last minute Christmas shoppers hit area malls

As Santa is checking his list twice, so are some last-minute shoppers and you could feel the spirit of the holiday as cars packed the parking lots at malls nationwide.

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - As Santa is checking his list twice, so are some last-minute shoppers and you could feel the spirit of the holiday as cars packed the parking lots at malls nationwide.

“They should come early, we had lots on," Richard Carasco, shopper, said. "It was hectic trying to find a parking space and then we went to a store that didn’t have any more gift cards because they sold out of them.”

But one shopper says it's just another weekend at the mall.

“Parking there is just a bunch of people outside," Mosies Casta, shopper, said. "It’s just another day at the mall in Midland, Texas.”

National Retail Federation says that 134 million people plan to shop the last weekend before Christmas.

“It’s been great, a lot of people and a lot of traffic in Odessa, but if you start early you will finish early,” Mary Lou Carrasco, shopper, said.

One shopper offered some advice to other shoppers who still need to buy gifts: just stick to your list, so you can get in and out fast.

“My shopping experience was very easy because I like to just get to the point and get to the places that I need to be,” Casta said.
