MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Museum of the Southwest in Midland will be undergoing some changes in the new year.
The Fredda Turner Durham Children’s Museum will be temporarily closing to prepare for renovations.
However, the Children’s Art Education Programming will continue running and will even be expanded in the next year.
In the meantime, family-friendly activities will be held in the Tuner Memorial Art Museum and toddler-specific activities will be moved into the Blakemore Planetarium.
“AS our program has evolved, we found it more and more useful to be over in the art museum and the planetarium, so for now we are gonna move the rest of the programming that was over there in to these other two buildings,” said Daniel W. Eck, Executive Director for the Museum of the Southwest.
“That’s also gonna give us a chance to do some poking around in the Children’s Museum, open up some walls, open up a few ceilings and start to prep for renovating that space.”
There is no word yet on when the museum renovations will be complete.
