MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Thanksgiving week proving to be a much calmer week for health inspectors in the Permian Basin. After the last two weeks saw 16 low performers combined in Midland & Odessa, there was only one low performer the week of November 19 through November 23.
Jalisco #2 at 2212 E. 8th St. in Odessa was cited for the following:
- - Gloves not being used by some employees in kitchen
- - Gloves not being changed after tasks
- - Bare hands touching food
- - Hot hold not being used properly
- - Some food in cooler not covered
- - Raw cut vegetables and meat not covered in refrigerator
- - Food not being cooled, heated or stored properly
- - No food thermometers
- - Personal drinks didn’t have straws
- - Wiping cloths, aprons found drying on meat cutting machine
- - Food storage containers not labeled properly
- - Not all employees had food handler cards
- - No certified food manager on site
- - Some food not labeled/date-marked properly
- - Food not being stored at least 6 inches from floor
- - Onions stored beneath chemicals
This resulted in the health inspector deducting 26 points from Jalisco #2.
