BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) - The City of Big Spring has announced they will be partnering with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to stock Comanche Trail Lake with fish.

The organizations will perform two stockings, one on December 4 and one on January 4. During this time over 4,000 trout of catchable size will be released into the lake.

The stocking of trout is a regular event for the department, measuring over 8.2 million trout stocked altogether across Texas since 1966. There are also numerous qualifications that must be met for a site to be stocked.

“The goal of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s rainbow trout stocking program is to release catchable size rainbow trout in select waters in Texas to provide a unique winter fishing opportunity, to provide additional fishing opportunities in urban areas and to provide support to educational fishing programs,” said Carl J. Kittel, Trout Program Director.
