MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - State Farm Insurance is donating two vehicles to Midland College as a part of is Student Salvage Vehicle Donation Program.
The donated vehicles will be heavily damaged, more than previous vehicles being used by the I-Car certification program. The vehicles in question are a 2012 Ford Focus and a 2015 Kia Optima.
Nearly 300 students in the program will be able to study the vehicles to learn how to write estimates, evaluate hidden structural damage, repair and reassemble vehicles and more. Automotive students will get the opportunity to analyze and repair mechanical and electrical damage within the vehicles, giving them valuable experience.
"These vehicles are unique in that we have the entire vehicle which has not been disassembled and they have significant damage, said Pedro Avalos, chair of Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology and Energy Technology.
